Learn the fundamentals of avoiding fire risks and quick response techniques in a fire emergency. Training is designed to instruct operators and staff on how to prepare themselves to react effectively for staff and resident preservation in residential fires of different origins and intensities. Participants will be taught to understand the nature of fire and early warning systems, recognize fire hazards and how to use fire extinguishers. Emphasis is placed on how to respond in an emergency, the evacuation needs of the residents and following the facility emergency and disaster plan. Certified FVTC safety trainers use a blend of instructor-led content, simulated exercises and a written qualification test to ensure proficiency. Participants must successfully complete this 3-hour training to meet the requirements of DHS 83.20 (2) (b) Fire Safety as required by the Division of Quality Assurance, Bureau of Assisted Living.
